Sensitive Examination Techniques (SET) CD-ROM

This has been produced as a Universitas 21 collaboration between the University of Melbourne, University of Queensland and the University of Auckland.

The SET CD-ROM is a multimedia computer-learning package. It is designed to assist people who work in the health and medical professions to explain and perform Pap tests sensitively by improving their clinical and communication skills. It is funded through the Universitas 21 Teaching and Learning Technologies Project Development Scheme and sponsored by PapScreen Victoria and Queensland Health.

This CD-ROM is an interactive package that asks users to appreciate issues from the woman’s perspective, reflect, choose appropriate options and gain feedback about the choices they have made. Topics in the CD include principles of cervical screening programs, women’s barriers to screening, communication skills, sensitivity issues, information giving, clinical skills required to take a Pap test, laboratory based procedures and follow-up. It also goes through a full Pap-test procedure, step by step from the initial questioning by the doctor to the communication of results.
