Senior Clinical Advisor, National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre

Dr Thompson is National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre’s Senior Clinical Advisor. She is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of national programs supporting and educating health professionals working in primary care, including general practitioners. Julie has 25 years experience working as a GP in both rural and urban practice and continues to work half time in general practice.

Current appointments: member of Cancer Australia Advisory Council, board member General Practice Divisions- Victoria, member NSW Cancer Institute general practice advisory group, member Victorian Ministerial Advisory Committee on Surgical Services.

Past appointments include: chair Australian Divisions of General Practice, member General Practice Partnerships Advisory Council, member Joint Advisory Group on Population Health, member AHMAC National Mental Health working group, member Pharmaceutical Health and Rationale use of Medicines committee.

Helena Teede

Professor Helena Teede is an Endocrinologist with a strong interest in Women’s Health. Her research has been recognised both locally and internationally and has resulted in over 60 publications.

Her special interests are in the continuum of risk from obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome, & prediabetes to cardiovascular disease. 

She also has a strong interest in translation of research through education and implementation of evidence into practice. 

Helena is the Director of Research at the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health, Head of Diabetes at Southern Health and is a Professor of Women’s Health at Monash University.

She has been an Honorary Lecturer, University of Newcastle since 1997. In addition Diane has played a leading role in the Primary Care Trust; is a Deanery Advisor, Contraception and Sexual Health, and chair of the Society of Consultants and Lead Clinicians in Reproductive Health, UK.
