Dr Nancy Huang is a public health consultant with a strong medical and clinical background. With13 years of clinical experience in general practice, she has also worked in academia and public health for the over12 years. Completing her Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne, she majored in preventive health in the primary care sector and health program evaluation.
Her experience and expertise stems from her work in the areas of cardiovascular disease prevention, population health screening program, and in the last 4 years, as the key architect of the Active Script Program in Victoria.
In 1993 she developed a statewide GP strategy as part of the Victorian Cervical Screening Program. In 1995 she conducted a randomized controlled trial in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, testing the efficacy of a multiple CVD risk factor reduction program. In 1996 she was involved in a consultancy to evaluate the Victorian Cervical Screening Program for the Department of Human Services.
She was appointed senior lecturer with the Department of General Practice and Public Health at Melbourne University between 1996 and 1998 in her role as network coordinator of the National Public Health and Health Promotion Evaluation Unit to evaluate Divisional projects in health education.
In 1999 she developed and won the tender to implement the Active Script Program in Victoria through a competitive tendering process. She has acted on several planning and preventive committees at the both the State and Commonwealth levels in Australia. Currently she holds the position of assistant director of VICFIT, while holding a consultant appointment with Asthma Victoria as part of the Ministrial Asthma Working Party Asthma Planning Project and is a member of the Victorian PapScreen Advisory Group.
